Boost pressure falls below expected value for a given fuel differential pressure.

Engine is shut down and latched.


Fault Code 233 may be read by INSITE™ electronic service tool as “Coolant Pressure

- Data Valid But Below Normal Operating Range - Most Severe Level.” However, this fault code is not related to coolant pressure.

Intake Manifold 1 Pressure Sensor Circuit


Circuit Description


The intake manifold 1 pressure sensor monitors intake manifold pressure and passes information to the ECM through the engine harness. The ECM uses the coolant pressure signal pins to relate intake manifold pressure to fuel rail pressure. If the intake manifold pressure becomes too low, relative to a fuel differential pressure, the engine will shut down and latch, so that it can not be restarted until the sensor is replaced or the calibration is reloaded.


Component Location


The intake manifold pressure sensor is located on the left side of the engine at the side of the intake manifold. Use the following procedure for a detailed

component location view. Refer to Procedure 100-002 in Section E.


Shop Talk


Fault Code 233 is a code only seen in QSK19 rail applications. It was developed as an engine protection fault code. Since it was developed after wiring harnesses were developed, Fault Code 233 may be read by INSITE™ electronic service tool as “Coolant Pressure - Data Valid But Below Normal Operating Range - Most Severe Level.” This occurs because it uses the coolant pressure signal pins that were previously unused by the QSK19 rail engines.
