Engine Crankshaft Speed/Position Sensor Circuit and Engin
Speed/Position Sensor Circuit
Circuit Description
The engine crankshaft speed/position sensor and the engine camshaft speed/position sensor are connected to the engine wiring harness.
Component Location
The engine crankshaft speed/position sensor reads a tone wheel mounted to the engine crankshaft. The sensor is located on the left side of the cylinder block toward the flywheel. The engine camshaft speed/position sensor reads a tone wheel inside the front gear cover. The sensor is located on the left side of the
engine on the back of the gear housing.
Shop Talk
The engine crankshaft speed/position sensor and engine camshaft speed/position sensor use the same style sensor and the connector keys are the same. It is possible to connect the wiring harness to the incorrect sensors. If this occurs, the engine control module (ECM) will detect the problem and the engine will not start. Once the connector problem is corrected, the engine can be started and the fault code will become inactive.
Refer to Troubleshooting Fault Code t05-115.
