Selecting and loading a new calibration


Introduction

In cases where an ECU is replaced or a calibration is corrupted, the following process should be used to load the correct calibration onto the ECU.


Check ECU set-up

  1. Connect the laptop to the machine using the DLA kit.

  2. Open ServiceMaster.

  3. Navigate to the correct machine type.

  4. Select the EcoMAX Engine Setup Tool for the correct application. Ensure the following is correct for the application.

    1. Make

    2. Machine Type

    3. Power Rating


  5. If the Make or Machine Type is incorrect please change and then press write.

  6. If the Power Rating is incorrect please order a replacement ECU of the correct power rating.

  7. Close the Tool.


Selecting and loading a new calibration file

  1. Load the JCB Flashloader.

  2. The Additional Info Tab should have the correct Make, Model and Power Rating.

  3. Press the Button Highlighted to select the flash file.

  4. Navigate to the Machine SW folder. (C:\JCB_Servicemaster_2\Machine SW)

  5. Navigate to the relevant application folder.

  6. Navigate to the ECM folder.

  7. Select and Open the relevant file and which matches the Make, Model and Power Rating.

  8. If the file selected does not match the Make, Model and Power Rating which is currently stored in the ECU it will cause an error.


    Please make another selection or close the Flashloader Tool and use the Engine Setup Tool to correct the Make or Model.

    If no error occurs and the file information below the path populates you are ready to flash the engine.


  9. Before pressing start please ensure that

    1. All electrical connections between the laptop and machine are secure.

    2. The laptop battery is sufficient.

    3. You are familiar with any safety cut out feature on the machine (seat switch) and do not invoke it during the flash.

  10. Press Start, a confirmation window will appear

    Pressing Yes will flash the engine ECU Pressing No will abort the download

  11. If an Engine Immobiliser is active you can not flash the engine ECU. You will get this warning.

    Please refer to the Un-setting the Immobiliser section of the immobiliser guide to disable the immobiliser before proceeding.

  12. Flashing process will then start and progress bar will update. When the programming is complete the following message will appear.

  13. Load the Ecomax Engine Setup Tool for the correct application and press "Restore Default". A warning box will appear.

    Press Yes.

  14. If Cold Start Kit required, Set to "Function and Diagnostics" and then press write.

  15. Ensure Injector Calibration is complete and correct.

  16. For EcoMax engine press "Write Injector Codes"

    For Dieselmax engines press "Write" (DieselMax Engines)

  17. For machines fitted with an immobiliser, see the 'setting the Engine Immobiliser' section of the immobiliser guide.

For machines not fitted with an immobiliser module see the 'Un-setting the Engine Immobiliser' section of the immobiliser guide.
