STEPS

SPECIFICATIONS

STEP 1. Check the fault codes.

Guided Step 1A - Determine if Fault Code 115 becomes active during cranking.

Conditions


  • Turn keyswitch ON.

  • Connect INSITE™ electronic service tool.


    Action


    Attempt to start the engine by engaging the starter for at least 10 seconds.


  • Use INSITE™ electronic service tool to read the fault codes.


Fault Code 115 becomes active during cranking?

YES

NO

No Repair

No Repair

Go to 1B

Go to 2A



Guided Step 1B - Inspect the engine harness.

Conditions


  • Turn keyswitch OFF.


    Action


    Inspect the engine harness connectors for correct connections.


  • Make sure the engine crankshaft speed/position sensor and engine camshaft speed/position sensor are connected to the engine wiring harness correctly.

Harness connectors connected to correct sensors?

YES

NO

No Repair

No Repair

Go to 2A

Go to 2A




         Guided Step 2 - Clear the fault codes     



Guided Step 2A - Disable the fault code.

Conditions


  • Connect all components.

  • Connect INSITE™ electronic service tool.

  • Turn keyswitch ON.


    Action


    Disable the fault code.


  • Use INSITE™ electronic service tool to verify Fault Code 115 is inactive.

Fault Code 115 inactive?

YES

NO


Return to the troubleshooting steps or contact


No Repair

a local Cummins® Authorized Repair location if all steps have been completed and checked again.

Guided Step 2B - Clear the inactive fault codes.

Conditions


  • Connect all components.

  • Connect INSITE™ electronic service tool.

  • Turn keyswitch ON.


    Action


    Clear the inactive fault codes.


  • Use INSITE™ electronic service tool to clear the inactive fault codes.

All fault codes cleared?

YES

NO

No Repair
